#DRAW COEN BROS CHARACTERS

Blimey, this one had me stumped.  Plenty of ideas, loads of sketching, but nothing was working... Mooks has his latest #draw thread up embracing the strange world that are the films of the Coen Brothers. 

I love the fact that folks that create something so inspiring, unique, and ever so slightly off-kilter are embraced by the film world. I think most people have seen at least one Coen Brothers film. I need to play a bit of catch up with my viewing, but the earlier stuff is wonderful, and they show no signs of stopping.

So, this wasn't my original idea, but after thinking about the Coen Brothers films I really love, it had to be Fargo. You can see the thread here, there's some wonderful contributions so far!

#DRAW SAMURAI JACK

Best cartoon ever?  Certainly one of the best designed, plotted and created.  The mighty Mooks has got his latest #draw up and running to celebrate the legend that is Samurai Jack.  Here's mine...  You can see the whole shebang here, there's some real doozies!

@themooks is back with another great #draw... This time, #drawfuturama.  With the news of (possibly) no more twisted sci-fi comedy gold from Groening and Co, it's wonderful to see what the art community comes up on this one.

Here's my piece for @themooks #DrawGrinch...

Having grown up on Dr Suess (amongst others...), it was really good fun to have a crack at one his iconic characters, and also get the Illustrator skills up to scratch! I've slightly subverted Grinch, and sent him off-duty bowling.

RIP MAURICE SENDAK...

Two days, two legends (certainly to me) have gone, and there are two big holes in my creative universe.


I was stunned for a second time in the space of a week to hear that my favourite children's author/illustrator, Maurice Sendak had died.  I think most people in the western world have seen or heard of his work, especially 'Where The Wild Things Are'.  Sendak was, and still is, a huge influence on me and my work, and he will be seriously missed.
